L'Oréal Paris Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum.

A couple of months ago, I reviewed the L'Oréal Paris Skin Perfection Day Moisturiser, and wasn't all that wowed... it was allright, but 'allright' just isn't good enough!

Unfortunately when it came to another product from the line, the Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum*, I'm sorry to say I was seriously disappointed...

The Serum, as the name suggests, claims to perfect the skin, with a couple of high profile ingredients such as Perline -P and L'Oréal's patented LR 2412 technology which work to reduce pore size, refine the skin's texture and even out pigmentation. All well and good; but I take exception to claim of reducing pore size - this cannot be done by any product. Reduce the appearance of large pores - yes. Actually reduce the size of large pores - not a chance in hell... rant over.

Sadly, I didn't get to test out the other claims as this product made made my skin go completely beserk. Within a couple of days of adding the serum to my routine, I experienced one of the worst cystic spot breakouts ever... and slap bang in the middle of my right cheek. Grrrrrreat.

I immediately stopped using it, and a few weeks later tried it out again... and the same thing happened; deep, sore spots appeared and sat angrily on my face for what felt like an eternity. And third time round... well you can guess for yourself.

I can hand-on-heart say that it was the only thing I can attribute to my sporadic acne outbreak - my diet had been really clean post-Christmas, I was drinking water by the gallon and using nothing else new skincare wise.

It's such a shame, as a good friend of mine loves the stuff, and my research tells me this product seems to work for a lot of people... some even switching to it from the its high-end sister, the Lancôme Visionnaire [LR2412] Serum. The eagle-eyed of you may have spotted that the Lancôme version just so happens to have the same LR2412 technology the L'Oréal one has... insider tip: L'Oréal actually owns Lancôme, along with lots of other high-end brands.

Alas, it wasn't meant to be for me and the L'Oréal Paris Skin Perfection Serum, and something in its ingredients list clearly did not get on with my skin, so it's been given a new home in Mummy Bombay Rose's skincare stash, and my ruddy complexion will just have to be addressed by another skincare wonder product... better get lookin'.

L'Oréal Paris Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum is priced at £16.99 and available at Boots.
