The Dream Team.

A good few months back, my skin was throwing a bit of a hissy-fit, and I experienced one of the worst breakouts I've ever had. Once the spots disappeared, I was left with hyperpigmentation which my usual choice of NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser just wasn't covering. I rushed out and bought the Estée Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup, which I tried to use as a concealer, then applied a foundation on top of it... but I really didn't like the results.
This product is definitely the most full coverage product I have ever used in my life... and not in a good way: I had a serious case of 'cake-face' and it was not my best look.

I abandoned any hope of ever using it again until a thought struck me a couple of weeks ago... why not mix in a small amount with my beloved NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser? I was matched to the shade Cuba back when I had a bit of a tan, and I had found the Estée Lauder Medium/Deep shade too light for my skin tone... so perhaps a blend of the two would create a perfect match. I dreaded the re-appearance of my old friend 'cake -face' so thought, "What about adding in another favourite to the mix to amp up the radiance... like, maybe, the L'Oréal Paris Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer?"

Mixing together a small blob (technical term, there) of the Estée Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover, one pump of the L'Oréal Paris Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer and a generous squeeze (I'm getting super technical now... aren't I?) of the NARS product and lo-and-behold 'The Dream Team' was created. Super light and breathable makeup, with great coverage, and all without compromising on the radiance factor. It's my skin, but so much better.

I apply this concoction with my fingers - where extra coverage is needed, I apply several light and super thin layers, each one blended carefully with my hands until the next is applied. Not a drop of concealer needed, and I love that I can build up the coverage from barely-there to full, all without a hint of the dreaded cake-face... I think I'm onto a winner.

  1. I've stopped mixing base products... Not sure why but this post makes me want to start again! This combination sounds amazing. I love when you find a new combo - it's always so exciting :)
