REVIEW: Origins Super Spot Remover.

I discovered Origins Super Spot Remover over Christmas... I had a party to go, so of course, I woke up that very day with an absolute monster of a spot on my cheek. I scuttled into town (all the while looking at the floor in the hope no one I knew would see me), practically ran into House of Fraser and found myself perusing the Origins counter, where a lovely assistant came to to my rescue.
"Basically I need to do something about this... and fast." I told her whilst pointing at the aforementioned monster.

She suggested Super Spot Remover, and told me it contained the holy grail of all spot fighters, salicylic acid which acts as a gentle exfoliant to clear out dead skin cells and bacteria that have accumulated within a spot. There's also a dash of caffeine and red algae, the latter of which claims to reduce red post-spot healing marks.

I had heard a fair bit of beauty blogger buzz around this Origins product, but hadn't parted with my pennies, as we all know buzz doesn't always live up to expectations (here and here!)... however, the sales assistant promised me it was a miracle in a bottle, and, in all honesty, I was getting desperate with mere hours to go before the party!

As soon as I got home, I applied it straight to my spot (a word of warning, this stuff burns - personally I like to think that it means it's working!) and within about two hours, the swelling had reduced, the spot was barely visible and was now so much easier to conceal.

The only reason I haven't written about this sooner is that I wanted to give it a good few tries to check it wasn't a one-spot wonder... which it definitely isn't. Whilst I'm not so convinced of the claim the product lightens acne scars,  I know for a fact if you manage to tackle a spot with this before it rears its ugly head, you're laughing - I've found when used early, it stops the zit right in its tracks.

The best part is I've been using it pretty regularly (my skin has been rather temperamental of late) for the last 3 months and still have plenty of product left - a second word of warning though, don't use this product any more than twice in a day or you will be left with a flaky, peeling patch of skin - arguably, much harder to cover than the original spot! This is definitely an 'emergency' product for the odd nasty zit, and not really a suitable long-term solution for permanently acne-prone skin.

However, if you need a quick fix to get rid of a pesky spot, look no further...  Origins Super Spot Remover is the solution!

Origins Super Spot Remover (£13.00) is available at House of Fraser.

  1. I went a little overboard with this and applied it 3-4 times in a day and the next morning I woke up to the same pimple and a patch of missing skin... Lesson learned.

    1. Yes, definitely a quick and easy fix rather than something you apply constantly, twice a day maximum is more than enough!
