These Boots Are Made for Walkin'.

I'm about to share with you one of life's little annoyances - have you ever wanted a specific, but relatively basic, accessory or item of clothing, only to find that you cannot find the item you've dreamt up (or anything that nearly resembles it) anywhere?!

A couple of years ago, my favourite pair of boots broke - I quite literally wore them into the ground and foolishly never bothered to get them re-heeled when the first signs of damage began to show. So the search began for a replacement, and I had a very straightforward (albeit imaginary) pair in mind - black flat knee-high leather boots.

I trawled hundreds of shoe websites and took countless trips to the shops, but couldn't find my dream pair - yes, I saw plenty of black boots, but with them came the fussy details I really didn't want (frills, buckles, ridiculous heel). I was about to totally give up hope when I decided to look through ASOS one last time, and lo-and-behold, I found them!

The reason I'm sharing this with you is because, now summer is drawing to a close, it's about time to start thinking about your autumn/winter wardrobe - and a good quality pair of boots is indispensable to the average girl's closet. The best part is you don't have to search far and wide like I did, as the boots I found are still available!

Aren't they beautiful?! I got a little greedy and also bought them in tan (unfortunately they are no longer available). But the black version is just so very versatile - I've worn these boots in a professional environment, and also casually with a pair of skinny jeans... I've even worn them on icy winter nights out when I didn't want to risk a broken ankle just to wear a pair of platforms! Nearly two years on, mine still look good as new, and they are an absolute steal at their reduced sale price!

In order to keep your leather supple and shiny, use a good quality shoe cream like this one every couple of months. These boots are well-worth waterproofing to keep out rain (and snow!) that comes with the autumn/winter season - I use a spray by Clarks (not available online so pop into your nearest store to get it). And of course, it's crucial to get your boots re-heeled when the sole begins to wear to save yourself the stress of finding a replacement should the damage take its toll on them!

Treat yourselves to this pair - you won't regret it when you realise just how versatile they are!

... And now I'm hijacking the end of this post for some news regarding an upcoming feature - I've decided to write a post answering questions from my lovely readers. If you have any queries regarding beauty, fashion and/or lifestyle, drop me an email at and I'll answer them in "Ask Me Anything" at the end of this month. The identities of those who submit questions will be kept secret so don't be shy and get in touch - I don't bite!
