Look of the Week: Lady in Red.

Much as I like Cheryl Cole, I wouldn't call myself a fan of her style (she recently proclaimed herself the "Queen of Chavs..." I'm not going to disagree), sometimes it's just a little over-the-top for my liking.

However, Cheryl's got my approval this week, with this outfit she was spotted wearing in Paris a few days ago.

Red is my favourite colour to wear, so as soon as I saw Cheryl's amazing shift-dress, I just had to pick it as the best look of the last seven days! I love the citrus-yellow heels she's wearing too, they contrast the the dress beautifully, not to mention those incredible sparkly earrings!

Cheryl's Dione Lee dress cost a whopping £985... (ouch!) so here's a few suggestions as to how to create this fiery look if you don't have Cheryl's bank balance at hand!

Cheryl sometimes goes wrong with her hair and make-up by being a little heavy-handed with the kohl liner and/or overstyling her hair - but, given how bright this outfit is, she's rightly toned down her look by choosing subtle-smokey eyes, and opting for loose waves rather than prim curls.

She credits her bouncy 'do to L'Oreal Volume Mousse, which she applies to wet roots before flipping her head upside down and blasting with a hair-dryer.
To create tousled waves, Cheryl sleeps with her damp locks in a loose top-knot, and the following morning, runs her fingers through her hair.

I'm pretty sure mousse alone doesn't account for the gravity-defying roots seen in these pictures, and that she backcombs the hell out of her hair too... to create voluminous hair à la Cheryl, use a simple tailcomb like this one and create volume by sectioning a small piece of hair, holding it taut above the head and gently dragging the comb against the length of the hair several times. Follow with hairspray and smooth the hair back into place using very light, gentle brush strokes... be warned though, prepare yourself for some serious pain as you brush out your backcombing the next morning!
